art connects new york Art Connects New York’s Mission:

Art Connects New York (ACNY) seeks to enrich the lives of all New Yorkers by making original visual artwork more readily available in non-traditional settings.

Our Art Placement Program uses independent curators to create themed collections of donated, original artwork by new York artists, and places the work permanently in social service agencies and nonprofit organizations throughout the five boroughs. ACNY placements are installed in public areas where they can spark conversation and provide insight among clients, staff and visitors.

The program provides new avenues of public exposure for artists, gives local independent curators opportunities to address diverse communities, provides social service agency users access to original artwork, and helps recipient agencies fulfill their missions while improving their environments.

Spattered Columns, our new art exhibition space, provides professional quality exhibition space where artists without commercial representation can show and sell their work.

The Art Placement Program Process:

Art Connects New York facilitates connections between curators, artists, and social service agencies. Our curators develop a theme that supports a qualifying agency’s mission. A finished placement may include artwork from ACNY’s database of promised artwork work as well as work solicited by its curator. ACNY oversees installation of the work, facilitates artist-led workshops for recipient agency clients and staff and helps the recipient agency, curator, and donating artists celebrate with an opening reception.

To date, Art Connects New York has worked with a variety of social service agencies, including a physical rehabilitation center, supportive housing facilities, a mental health care facility, a nursing home and transition housing facilities. Our community of artists and curators grows daily.
